"CHASTEN AND GLAD"
HEBREWS 12:5-9
by Pastor Tony Sutton

CHASTEN

  • A) DESPISE NOT, BE GLAD AND REJOICE IN IT.
  • B) FAINT NOT, TAKE IT AND LEARN FROM IT.

WHEN CHASTISEMENT COMETH, DON'T DESPISE IT, NOR SHOULD WE FAINT. THIS IS A TIME WE SHOULD REJOICE BECAUSE WE HAVE A FATHER WHO CARES AND IS DIRECTING OUR PATHS. WE SHOULDN'T FAINT, BUT WE SHOULD DRAW STRENGTH FROM THE LORD AND GROW.

WHO IS ?

  • A) THOSE WHO BELONG TO HIM, ARE THE ONES WHO ARE CHASTENED.
  • B) THE RECEIVED V6

HE SAID IN 1COR. ...YE ARE BOUGHT WITH A PRICE... WE BELONG TO HIM NOW. THEREFORE WE ARE HIS TO CORRECT, TO GUIDE, TO KEEP.

UN-CHASTEN

  • A) BASTARDS AND NOT SONS

THOSE WITHOUT CHASTISEMENT ARE NOT HIS. MANY WALK IN DECEPTION. SATAN HAS THEM BELIEVING THAT THEY BELONG TO GOD, HOWEVER THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN BORN AGAIN, NEVER HAD A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, NOT WASHED IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS.

FINAL THOUGHTS

CHASTISEMENT IS NOT AN ACT IN WHICH ONE WELCOMES WITH OPEN ARMS. WE OFTEN DESPISE AND REFUSE TO SEE OUR FAULTS. IF YOU CAN GET BY WITH THINGS THAT YOU KNOW ARE WRONG AND GOD DOES NOT PUNISH YOU, SOMETHING IS WRONG. THIS IS NOT ABOUT WHO'S RIGHT AND WHO'S WRONG, BUT THIS IS ABOUT WHO'S TRULY SAVED AND WHO'S DECEIVED. DO YOU KNOW THAT WIDE IS THE PATH THAT LEADS TO DESTRUCTION AND MANY BE THERE ON THAT PATH, BUT NARROW IS THE PATH THAT LEADETH TO LIFE AND FEW BE THERE ON THAT PATH

MATTHEW 7:13,14

DO YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW?

Friend: Would you let us know if this sermon has led you to the Lord, inspired you to re-dedicate your life to the Lord, or simply been a Blessing unto you?
